Kabel Deutschland says it anticipates being able to supply DOCSIS 3 broadband internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps to more than ten million households by the end of March 2012.
The figure, an increase of 4 million on the numbers already capable of receiving the service, come at the start of the operator’s new financial year.

“Already 20% of the customers who are interested in our cable Internet offering opt for speeds up to 100 Mbps,” said Adrian v. Hammerstein, CEO, Kabel Deutschland. “The trend is clearly towards superfast internet accesses. With Internet service via the TV cable network, customers are very well prepared for future demands.”

Ten new cities will enjoy 100 Mbps speeds by June 2011: Hildesheim and Oldenburg (Lower Saxony), Glinde, Norderstedt, Pinneberg and Reinbek (Schleswig-Holstein), and Arnstadt, Erfurt, Gera, and Gotha (Thuringia). Between them an additional 450,000 will be covered.
