MTNL introduces prepaid IPTV
Indian telco Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched a prepaid version of its IPTV service 'iControl', operated in conjunction with Aksh Optifibre for all its fixed-line subscribers in Delhi and Mumbai.
The prepaid service is available from today, while existing contract customers of the service will continue to be served and - according to local reports - will eventually be converted to prepaid customers. At launch there are two prepaid plans for the IPTV service - 'Premium' and 'Connoisseur'.
For new customers, there is a one-off registration charge of INR 200 (US$ 4.28), plus a refundable security deposit for the set-top box of INR 1,999, and a refundable modem security deposit of INR 250.
