Slovakia is preparing for the launch of what will be its fourth DTH platform.

Medialne reports that the incumbent telco Slovak Telecom has already begun trialling a service that is being termed MagioSat TV – it currently has an IPTV operation named Magio – employing the Amos satellite at 4 degrees West.

It is offering all the Slovak national and the two main Czech Television (CT) channels, along with a number of other services including Filmbox, Filmbox Extra, Film+, HBO and MTV Europe.

Unofficially, MagioSat TV is expected to make its debut in January 2010.

Although Slovakia already has three DTH platforms – UPC Direct, Digi and Skylink – a fourth (CS Link) can be received but is not marketed in the country.
