Serbia Broadband (SBB) has confirmed its position as one of the leading providers of pay-TV services in the Balkans by agreeing to buy the Bulgarian DTH platform ITV Partner.

According to MPortal, SBB’s own DTH service Total TV and ITV Partner have already been cooperating for some time by exchanging TV channels and currently have similar offers. They also use the same orbital position – 16 degrees East – on Eutelsat’s W2.

SBB is backed by Mid Europa Partners, which earlier this year acquired UPC Slovenia from Liberty Global and – only earlier this month – Hungary’s Invitel. No financial details of the latest deal have as yet been disclosed.

ITV Partner is one of two DTH platforms currently operating in Bulgaria. The most recent estimates have put the combined subscriber total of ITV Partner and its competitor Bulsatcom at around 90,000.
