iDirect Partners with Signis to Demonstrate Satellite Content Distribution System

October 19, 2009

Signis, a non-government Catholic communication group, and iDirect will demonstrate capabilities of a satellite communications system that aims to efficiently distribute and share media content to developing nations, iDirect announced Oct. 16.

The two companies will showcase several media applications including video broadcasting, Voice over IP and IP radio, as well as multicast content distribution, at the 2009 World Congress event in Thailand.
Signis will use the iDirect network and capacity provided by Asia Broadcast Satellite’s (ABS) ABS-1 satellite to exhibit live broadcasts of Signis radio programs streamed over the Internet.

One of the main objectives of Signis is to build a global network of educators to advance the media's capacity to put individuals, groups and people into communication with each other. iDirect directly supports this mission not only by providing the intelligent backbone of the Signis network,” Signis director Bernardo Suate said in a statement.
