MTS Allstream launches whole-home PVR service

Canadian telco MTS Allstream has launched a whole-home PVR service, enabling customers to watch PVR content from any connected TV in their home.

The service is available to subscribers of its IPTV service 'MTS Ultimate TV' based in most areas of Portage La Prairie and Brandon, and to a growing number of customers in Winnipeg. Users can also set up their PVR to record up to three programmes from any connected TV in the house, while watching recorded content from their PVR, as well as pause, replay and rewind live TV from their main set-top box.

"Whole Home PVR is the best PVR service a customer can experience in Canada, unmatched by any Canadian competitor, and it's available right now for MTS Ultimate TV customers," said Kelvin Shepherd, President Consumer Markets division at MTS Allstream. "The new Whole Home PVR is just one step further in our commitment to expand of our broadband service capabilities in Manitoba."

All existing PVR service customers have been upgraded to the whole-home PVR service automatically. Subscribers of MTS Ultimate TV can get the whole-home PVR service for CA$ 5 (US$ 4.83) per month. MTS Ultimate TV is based on Alcatel-Lucent technology and the Microsoft Mediaroom platform, and offers over 250 linear channels, including 30 high-definition channels.
