TV Brasil preparing international channel

Brazilian public broadcaster TV Brasil is to launch an international channel targeting Brazilian emigrants in 2010, in a move that puts it in competition with Globo TV and Rede Record. Tereza Cruvinel, chairwoman of state-owned Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, announced the news at the Conference of Brazilian Communities Living Abroad in Rio.

Africa is the first continent being targeted, with North America also set to be covered, and satellite and cable distribution planned for a later date.
