Radio Television Malaysia to sell its audiovisual products

Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) is now selling its audio visual products to the public, said the Director-General of Broadcasting, Datuk Ibrahim Yahya. The move aimed to give an opportunity to various groups to obtain information on various events and programmes produced by RTM since its establishment until today.

He said this could also provide an exposure and better understanding to the public on the events that took place in and out of the country thus to inculcate the feeling of love for the national cultural heritage. “This is an opportunity for the public especially students to obtain various footages which have been kept in our archives.

“Any party wishing to obtain the footage they are interested in may make an application at RTM’s library and state the footage they want,” he told reporters after opening the Love Our Audiovisual Heritage, here, Tuesday.

Ibrahim said the effort was also in line with the wish of Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim who wanted the public to know the services provided by RTM. He said that for a one-minute footage, RTM would charge RM 1,000 (US$294), but for students a different rate would apply.
