Bahama's IPSI granted triple-play licence

Share Nassau-based firm IP Solutions International (IPSI) has been granted the first triple-play licence in the Bahamas, according to reports in The Nassau Guardian, with the company expected to launch its IPTV and broadband services in the first quarter of next year.

We'll have a preliminary offering before the end of the year," said Edison Sumner, President and CEO of IPSI. "But we'll be ready to offer services in the first quarter of next year." According to Mr. Sumner, work is set to begin immediately on the company's video headend and network operations centre, with the company expecting to spend anywhere between BDS 8mn (US$ 8mn) and BSD 12mn on infrastructure.

We're raising BSD 16mn for the entire project," added Mr. Sumner. "About a third of that is going directly toward developing and constructing headend equipment." The company reportedly plans to offer IPTV (both live and VOD), gaming and VoIP services to customers.
