Dump Eurovision Song Contest, say Dutch
Chris Forrester

The Dutch have lost their passion for the annual Eurovision Song Contest. A survey (perhaps not the most scientific) carried out on RTL-4, a commercial broadcaster in the Netherlands, found that 86% of those surveyed would be happy to see the show ended.

These viewers were specifically unhappy with the way the annual song-fest has developed over the past few years, where alleged Eastern ‘bloc’ voting now skews the winning results towards Eastern European entries.

The past 5 years has seen the Netherlands struggle to even get a song into the final line-up. This past event saw the Dutch entry slump to 17th place out of 19 in the second semi-final, and thus knocked out of the contest.
