German television group ProSiebenSat.1 is planning to expand its activities in the field of pay-TV.

“We are in discussions with cable operators and IPTV platforms regarding the launch of new pay-TV channels,” a spokesman told industry publication Kontakter. However, there are no concrete plans for the forthcoming months, he added, with the company already having developed several concepts for further subscription channels.

Currently, ProSiebenSat.1 is working on expanding the content of its three existing pay-TV services Sat.1 Comedy, kabel eins classics and Deutsches Wetterfernsehen. With an increased engagement in pay-TV the company wants to make itself more independent of the advertising market, planning to increase the share of turnover outside of advertising from currently 15% to 30% by 2014.
