Telefónica del Sur passes 25,000 IPTV subs
Chilean telco Telefónica del Sur (Telsur) has passed 25,000 subscribers for its IPTV service 'WiTV', which it launched in July 2007.
The service is secured by content protection from Latens, and is now in the second phase of deployment according to the telco, which is heavily investing in upgrading and expanding its network, IPTV service and feature set. Telsur offers 120 broadcast channels in standard-definition, with the service also including video-on-demand, parental controls and an EPG.
Latens' software-only conditional access is integrated with Telsur's other equipment providers for the deployment, which include Minerva for middleware, Amino for set-top boxes and Ruckus for in-home wireless distribution.
