Deutsche Telekom passes 885,000 IPTV subs

Deutsche Telekom had reached 885,000 customers for its IPTV service 'T-Home Entertain' by the end of the third quarter of this year, but only if counting orders placed for the service and not functioning installations, which stood at 678,000 at the end of the period.

The company does appear on track to reach the target it has set itself of 1mn customers by the end of this year, but only in terms of customer bookings, having had 721,000 orders for the service as of the end of June.

The telco reports that the number of new DSL customers added in the third quarter of this year was lower, as expected, with the fact that many customer contracts for complete packages expired in July and August having led to a fall in market share of net additions to 18% in the period.

Total revenue across all operations and markets reached 16.3bn for the third quarter of this year, up 5.2% year-on-year, while EBITDA rose 5.2% by the same comparison to reach 5.5bn.
