ITV buying 25% of Hulu UK?

UK commercial broadcaster ITV is reportedly buying a 25% stake in VOD service Huluís British service.

The purchase will also, says Media Week, secure the appearance of full-length ITV content on Huluís UK system. Hulu is controlled by Disney, NBC-U, News Corp and Providence Equity. Hulu also has an agreement in place to show shorter-form programming and clips from ITV shows.

Currently Hulu is a free-to-view service, funded by advertising. However, US reports (including an authoritative statement from News Corpís Chase Carey) suggest that Hulu will start charging viewers access fees next year.
