M6 ready for online betting
French commercial network M6 is planning to take a stake in Austrian poker company Bwin’s French subsidiary.
Interviewed by daily Le Monde, CEO Nicolas de Tavernost announced talks are currently taking place with Bwin for launching poker activities in 2010. However he added that under French law other online betting is not authorized for M6 as the group owns football club Girondins de Bordeaux.
Taking a stake in Bwin would confirm M6’a ambition of making diversifications more important in its revenues. Starting with teleshopping activities, M6’s diversification has extended over the years to video, magazines but also credit cards and mobile sales.
This year, diversification revenues will represent 45% of the group’s total revenues
