Sundance, WE tv, launching in Asia


Sundance Channel and WE tv are launching in Asia for the first time, following a deal between channel operator Rainbow Media, Measat and Ascent Media. The channels will be available in both standard and high definition.

WE tv is a female-fcused network currently only available in the US, where it reaches nearly 74 million homes. Sundance Channel offers series and movies under the creative direction of Robert Redford.

The channels will be avilable on the Measat-3a satellite. Ascent Media will deliver a complete file-based workflow and fully automated playout system, operated in a shared network environment, and will provide the HD uplink to the MEASAT-3a satellite. Ascent will also create promotional spots for both channels suited to the Asian market, as well as provide other post-production services.

Sundance Channel inclludes programming such as original series, Man Shops Globe and Lazy Environmentalist; King Lear starring Sir Ian McKellen; and indie films like Theater of War.

WE tv programming includes signature series Bridezillas, Amazing Wedding Cakes, and The Locator.
