Foxtel iQ reaches 50%
Penetration of Australian digital-satellite TV platform Foxtel’s PVR product, Foxtel iQ, is now at over half of all Foxtel homes.
Over 800,000 homes out of Foxtel's 1.6 million-plus now have at least one iQ box, which the platform claims equals over 3 million people. Since October, Foxtel have been offering iQ devices for “free” as long as users sign up for a specific “Value Pack”. That should boost uptake of the device further.
Ratings agency OzTam will start to include users of PVRs in its ratings panel from December 27 this year.
Anthony Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer of MCN, Foxtel’s pay-TV ad agency, said: “Foxtel iQs have never been included in the OzTam Panel and we welcome the inclusion of all homes with personal video recorders from December 27th. It is important for the industry’s main currency to accurately reflect the changing television landscape and measure all homes particularly those that are taking up new technology and watching more TV.”
