Telecinco bets on American fiction

Spanish commercial channel, Mediaset's Telecinco, has decided to bet on American fiction for its DTT channels in these times of crisis. So the broadcaster has signed a series of strategic agreements with US major producers CBS, Universal and RHI.

The deals cover the acquisition of new fiction content for broadcasting on Telecinco’s different TV channels. Digital channel La Siete will be a conventional channel and Factoría de Ficción will be a channel with premium contents as if it was a pay-TV channel although free-to-air. Both digital channels will be addressed to younger audiences than conventional analogue channel Telecinco.

So Telecinco's digital channels will offer among others the new CBS version of 90's hit Melrose Place, NCIS: Los Angeles, Worst Week and the three sequels of C.S.I. Also to be broadcast are Universal's Trauma and Mercy. The two DTT channels will also screen TV movies.
