German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland is expanding the distribution of its HDTV offer on cable networks.

Contracts for the carriage of all seven of the platform’s HDTV channels have been concluded with German cable marketing association Deutsche Netzmarketing Gesellschaft (DNMG). The association negotiates carriage contracts with TV broadcasters for more than 140 cable networks which have a combined reach of over 6 million households.

Through the new agreement, the cable companies will be able to carry Sky Sport HD, Sky Cinema HD, Disney Cinemagic HD, Eurosport HD, Discovery HD, National Geographic HD and History HD on their networks with immediate effect. Until now, only four of Sky’s high definition channels were available.

With the DNMG agreement the complete HDTV line-up from Sky will be available to around 70% of all cable households in Germany.
