Germany’s third-largest cable operator Kabel BW has reached the half-million mark for internet and telephony customers.

And 22% of the company’s 2.3 million TV customers have chosen broadband internet access and a telephone line – the highest figure amongst all German cable operators.

Kabel BW is pushing ahead with the upgrading of its cable networks for higher internet speeds, with more than half of all households – around 5 million homes in federal state Baden-Wurttemberg – able to subscribe to the company’s top-speed internet access service offering a data rate of 100 Mbit/s. By mid-2010 the entire cable network is expected to be upgraded for the 100 Mbit/s service.

“The speed of our growth is continuous because not only our services, but also our prices, are unbeatable,” said Harald Rösch, CEO, in Heidelberg. “With our 500,000th customer, we have increased our subscribers almost fivefold since the end of 2006.”
