Sky TV NZ, Vodafone offer free PVR

In New Zealand, pay-TV operator Sky and telco Vodafone have extended their relationship to offer Vodafone’s bundled home telephony/broadband subscribers a free high-definition PVR.

Vodafone mobile customers can already access the Sky mobile TV package, but the new relationship will see Vodafone bill and bundle Sky services.

From December 7, Sky customers who have their landline and broadband with Vodafone can now receive My Sky HDi at no cost. All customers, whether they are new to Sky and Vodafone or already subscribe to these services, will be eligible.

Vodafone New Zealand CEO Russell Stanners said the deal further strengthened the Sky and Vodafone relationship. “Customers are already enjoying the benefits of SKY on their mobiles with SKY Mobile TV and now we’re extending the relationship into the lounge with this bundled offer,” Stanners said.

Sky Television CEO John Fellet added: “This is a natural progression in our relationship with Vodafone for them to bill and bundle Sky services. Knowing the many benefits of My Sky HDi and the added convenience of one bill for three services, we think this offer will see a huge take up.”
