ITV Studios announces restructure
Tuesday, November 17 2009,
ITV Studios has reportedly announced a major restructuring of its business, dividing the company into four departments.
According to Broadcast, the organisation told staff today of plans to divide the firm into four sections: Factual; Entertainment; Daytime; and Scripted.
Controllers will be renamed creative directors and their numbers reduced to eight. A total of 15 people are to undergo a 30-day consultation process, the majority of whom are in top positions.
ITV Studios managing director Lee Bartlett said: "We must evolve the way we manage our business and today's proposals will simplify our creative structure and create a truly flexible production management team, so we continue to deliver first-rate programming for our UK and global clients."
Creative director John Whiston added: "The changes we are proposing will allow us to focus on the game-changing programming that is so important to us and our clients - Entertainment, Daytime, Factual and Scripted content, and provide our clients with one point of contact, within our ITV Studios' team."
From next year, Factual and Scripted departments will each have three creative directors, and Entertainment and Daytime units will each have one. All will be overseen by Whiston.
Claire Poyser is to head up a new production management team which incorporates production accounting and scheduling staff together with a training and newly-formed talent group.
