Eutelsat wins New Tang action

New Tang Dynasty TV has failed in its legal application against Eutelsat.

The Paris Commercial Tribunal has dismissed a claim by New Tang Dynasty TV that was arguing that its channel had been removed by Eutelsat because the broadcaster was critical of the Chinese authorities.

Eutelsat has always claimed that the channel was removed because of technical problems on the satellite. NTDTV had applied for an independent expert to be appointed to present a report on the facts.

The French court backed Eutelsat. However, Eutelsat, in a statement, confirmed that NTDTV continues to broadcast uninterrupted from Eutelsat's important ‘Hot Bird' orbital position.
