The Moscow-based cable operator Akado is set to become the leading provider of HD services in Russia following the addition of a number of channels in the format to its offer on December 1.

According to Akado, these new channels will include Women’s World HD and High Life HD, both of which are distributed by the St Petersburg company First HD, bringing the total number offered to 12.

Akado introduced its first HD channel – Kinopokaz HD – in December 2008.

Its 12-package offer from December will consist of three documentary channels (National Geographic HD, Women’s World HD and Teleputeshestviya HD), four entertainment channels (HD Live, High Life HD, myZen.tv and Voom HD), tow movie channels (Video On Demand HD-1 and HD-2) and a sport (Eurosport HD) and news (Expert-TV HD) channel.
