Virgin Media has unveiled plans to bring the complete series of Generation Kill and the first two seasons of Gossip Girl to its video on-demand platform.

From December 3, all seven episodes of acclaimed drama Generation Kill will be launched in standard and high definition on the HBO section. Developed by the creator of The Wire, the mini-series tracks the first 40 days of the Iraq war from the perspective of embedded Rolling Stone reporter Evan Wright.

Season one and two of Gossip Girl will also be made available from the WarnerTV section on December 20.

Elsewhere, season three of gritty crime drama The Wire comes in SD to the HBO section during November and December. Season two of The Big Bang Theory will also arrive during the same period.

Viewers can further catch up on season four of Six Feet Under in both SD and HD, along with season five of comedy Two And A Half Men.

Virgin Media executive director of TV Cindy Rose said "With over half of our customers now using the service regularly, TV on-demand is fast becoming the most convenient way to watch the best TV.

"This month we have some real treats with some must-see TV shows, including Generation Kill and Gossip Girl, joining hundreds of others covering everything from drama to romance and comedy, all available at the touch of a button."
