Joost is more or less dead as a consumer product, now that Adconion Media Group has picked up the assets of the bankrupt internet peer-to-peer video broadcaster.
Some 60% of Joost's remaining staff will be absorbed into Adconion. It is a sad end for the project which won support from an enthusiastic band of users.
Adconion will now use Joost to supply its advertising-based services, and there's talk of a reincarnation of Joost but with monetisation very much to the fore.
