The Slovak incumbent telco T-Com has received over 7,000 pre-registrations in less than a month for its new DTH platform Magio, due to make its debut in Q1 2010.
The service, which is being developed in conjunction with sister company Magyar Telekom – the Hungarian telco is providing part of the headend – will employ DVB-S2 satellite technology. Reception will be possible with an 80cm dish.
Although details about programming have not yet been announced, the service will offer interactivity and is likely to include HD channels. It will also include VOD, though not initially.
T-Com already operates a highly successful IPTV operation of the same name in Slovakia.
