Senate rejects TV revenue request
Pascale Paoli Lebailly
The French Senate has rejected an amendent intended to smooth the tax on private channel ad revenues. The move was proposed to help compensate the public sector broadcaster's recent partial ad ban.
Budget Minister Eric Woerth has said he could make a move for 2009, but doesn't want to put into question the game rules because there will necessarily be advertising transfers (from PSB networks to private channels). He said he recognised that advertising revenues did fall over the first quarter, but it seems the next two quarters of 2009 were better.
