Murdoch enters Mid-East

Rupert Murdoch has linked with Middle-East media giant Rotana, owned by Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

The Murdoch involvement in Rotana has been bubbling under since 2006, and the end result will see News Corp take a 10% stake in Rotana, with an option to buy another 10%. Prince Alwaleed is already an investor in News Corp.

Rotana has significant stakes in music, film and now general entertainment channels and linked services. New Fox-branded channels will now start appearing in the region.
