The Portuguese DTH market continues to grow robustly, according to the country's telecommunications authority ANACOM, referring specifically to the third quarter of this year.

As at the end of September there were 624,000 DTH subscribers to pay-TV services, some 27.000 more than in Q2. This represents a growth of 4.4% and 63.000 more than the same period last year, and a year-on-year 11.2% growth.

This growth is due according to ANACOM to Portugal Telecom's satellite pay-TV operator Meo. To the 624,000 DTH subs, the authority says there are also many homes receiving free-to-air satellite broadcasting, taking the overall total to more than 1 million homes receiving satellite TV programming in Portugal.
