The Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) is delivering digital TV packages to Siberia and the Far East, the company announced Dec. 8.
The digital program package includes all Russian public TV and radio communications channels approved by a Russian Mandate passed in June.
RSCC said the service roll out will lead to future investments in developing new satellites.
“One of the main priorities of RSCC’ activity is meeting the provisions of the Federal Target Program. Obviously, the territory of our country cannot be covered by multi-program digital broadcasting without new spacecraft. That is why we pay special attention to developing advanced heavy spacecraft,” Yuri Prokhorov, RSCC’s deputy director general, said in a statement.
