The German cable operator Kabel BW has become the first in the country to launch Penthouse HD. The channel is especially geared towards the German market in a soft core version.

Major distribution carriage agreements with other cable, satellite, IPTV and hotels in the country are expected to be finalised by the end of 2010.

Jacky Wauters, CEO of NOA Productions, who is marketing the Penthouse HD channels in Europe, said in a statement: “Sales of HD hardware including HD television and HD enabled set-top boxes have been on the rise for quite some time in Europe resulting in high consumer demand for top quality HD programming. The well known Penthouse brand is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this critical market share.”

Penthouse HD is delivered in three distinctive linear HD channels (full native HD): for Germany there is a special soft core (erotic) channel available, which complies with German regulation on adult entertainment programming. For other countries, where hardcore is legal, Penthouse HD1 and Penthouse HD2 are available.
