CME= considers Bulgarian options
December 18, 2009
CME is “ready to merge with any of our competitors in fair conditions or alternatively sell our business” in Bulgaria, according to Petr Dvorak, the general director of the leading Czech broadcaster TV Nova.
Speaking to CBW, he gave a generally upbeat assessment of the prospects for CME, which owns commercial TV operations in seven Central and East European countries. In the case of Bulgaria, he said that CME is of the view that the market can only handle two rather than the three main players there at present.
He also restated CME’s view that modest recovery in its TV ad markets will be under way in H1 2010, with slight growth in H2 2010 and the main recovery to take place in 2011 and 2012.
Furthermore=, he predicted that internet will “always be a single digit contributor” to CME’s future revenues”, while content will account for “20-30% in 3-5 years=”.
