Russia's PMT deploys Digisoft IPTV delivery platform

Russian firm Personal Media Technologies (PMT) has selected the DigiHost IPTV service delivery platform and Java-based middleware from Irish firm Digisoft for the delivery of next-generation personalised IP video services across the Russian market.

Personal Media Technologies, a division of Sigmalink Investments, reportedly plans to implement an ambitious media project involving the development of a personalised IP video service called 'OViVO', giving customers in major urban areas in the Russian Federation instant subscription-free access to thousands of hours of on-demand SD and HD television shows and movies, using an IP set-top box in the home.

Video content will be delivered using an intelligent, customer-aware content delivery IP network and stored within in-home set-top boxes. The solution will include a fully-integrated video recommendation engine which enables OViVO to generate customised playlists for each end-user, based on their previous viewing habits and demographics, as well as allowing advertisers to deliver personalised advertising to a targeted audience.

“OViVO has very ambitious plans to attract large numbers of subscribers to our IPTV offering,” said Tatyana Prokhorova, CEO of Personal Media Technologies. “To achieve this, we need to offer our customers highly differentiated and compelling personalised content and services. Digisoft’s software products and expertise provide us with a cost-effective best-of-breed solution that allows us to rapidly launch new advanced feature rich HD content and services.”

Digisoft has also been appointed programme manager, managing an eco system of vendors to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for Personal Media Technologies.
