BSkyB kicked off its appeal against regulator Ofcom´s ruling that the broadcaster must permit its premium channels to be carried by its commercial rivals.

The appeal is in front of the Competition Appeal Tribunal, and started last Friday. BSkyB is seeking ´interim relief´ which would put a stop on proceedings while it mounted a full appeal.

James Flynn QC told the court that a full appeal might take up to 9 months. Unsaid, but very much in everyone´s mind is that a new Conservative government (and the UK General Election is barely two weeks away) could see a change of heart and perhaps even the end of Ofcom.
