Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) enabling the telco to broadcast every football match from the upcoming season of the English Premier League on its IPTV service 'Mozaic TV+', according to iptv-news.com.
The deal means that the telco will be the only pay-TV provider in Qatar to offer live coverage of all 380 games from the English Premiership, along with previews, reviews and analysis of games. The new season of the English Premiership kicks off on August 14.
"Qtel believes that sport brings people together, and we're determined to offer the widest choice in matches and events for fans to follow," said Waleed Al Sayed, Executive Director of Customer Services at Qtel. "The English Premier League is one of the most exciting competitions in the world, so bringing coverage of every match to Qatar is a real coup for Qtel."
Mozaic TV+ was launched in May 2007 and offers over 125 linear channels, with Asian/Western and Arab/Western packages available, costing QAR 250 (US$ 68.70) per month for the basic service. The telco had reached 10,000 subscribers for its IPTV service by the middle of last year.
