BT Vision reported a dismal second quarter for its IPTV service adding just 14,000 new customers, its lowest figure for two years. It ended June 30, 2010 with 481,000 subscribers.
The telco must now hope that the faith it put into the Ofcom pay-TV enquiry and the arrival of Sky Sports on its network revives its fortunes in the second half of the year. An advertising campaign is underway, but so too are rival campaigns from BSkyB and Top Up TV, which is also adding Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2.

BT is offering BT broadband customers access to one of the two channels at a starting price of £6.99 per month.

In related news, Ofcom has today given approval to the carriage of Sky Sports 1 and 2 on the DTT platform using capacity on Multiplexes B and D jointly leased by the BBC and Arqiva.
