Virgin Media will soon start offering its subscribers a high definition version of MTV Networks' Comedy Central channel, it has emerged.

As spotted by members on Digital Spy's V+ HD forum, Comedy Central HD will launch on Virgin Media's electronic programming guide at position 133.

After the launch, the Comedy Central channel bouquet will run as follows:

Comedy Central 132
Comedy Central HD 133
Comedy Central +1 134

Comedy Central Extra, which is currently available at position 134 on Virgin Media's programming guide, will move to channel 185.

Launched in the US in January 2009, Comedy Central HD airs a schedule of original shows in high definition, including The Sarah Silverman Programme, Comedy Central Presents, Reno 911! and newer episodes of South Park.

It is presently unclear when the channel will become available on Virgin Media, with a spokesman for the firm just saying "watch this space".
