Sky Deutschland boss Brian Sullivan says he is confident that negotiations with Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia will be successfully concluded in the next few months. “We want to be present on all platforms with our content,” Sullivan told Handelsblatt, adding that the cable companies were a natural platform for Sky because they needed the content to help compete with Deutsche Telekom.

Since Sullivan first outlined Sky Deutschland’s cross platform strategy at the ANGA Cable event in May, a number of deals have been concluded, but to date these have only been with relatively small networks such as NetCologne and Deutsche Netz Marketing GmbH (DNMG).

There are also plans to add Sky Deutschland content to the Xbox, replicating a similar agreement between Microsoft and BSkyB’s Sky Player. In Germany this would give Sky Deutschland a lever against the ProSiebenSat.1 Maxdome service and to a lesser extent Deutsche Telekom.
