French telco Orange has asserted that its triple-play prices along with those of mobiles subscribing to television would be raised if the French government’s project to raise triple-play VAT became effective.

Interviewed by daily Le Figaro, CEO Stéphane Richard has explained that such a new tax would amount to €230m. When added to other taxes, like the one to compensate any potential ban on advertising on public service broadcasting (PSB) which has been discussed by the French government, the total reaches €900m.

Regarding new products, he announced Orange will shortly positioned on iPad-like tablet computing market. He said that by the end of the year, Orange will likely launch Samsung Galaxy tablet computer and the Huawei Android one for less than €200.
