02 Dec 10 -

International news broadcaster France 24 is expanding its reach across North Africa and the Middle East after striking a deal with satellite services operator Arabsat.

The broadcaster will transmit its three French and English-language channels via satellite BADR-4, which will broadcast to 160 million homes across Morocco and the Persian Gulf. “After the successful launch of our channel in Arabic in 2007, we are very pleased to work again with Arabsat and deploy our three versions on BADR-4,” said Philippe Rouxel, vice president worldwide for distribution, France 24.

Separately France 24 has struck a new distribution deal with Spanish cable operator Ono, making the English language version of the channel available to a further 720,000 subscribers in the country, where it is already available (in three languages) on pay TV platform Digital Plus, in French on the Orange IPTV platform and in English on the Telefónica Mobistar Imagenio IPTV platform.
