Travel broadens the HD horizon for Digital+

Spanish market sources have revealed that satellite pay-TV operator Digital+ is to launch a new HDTV channel, Viajar HD.

As its name suggests, the new channel will be the HD version of traditional Viajar channel, dedicated to travelling, global culture, Nature and the different ways of understanding life.

The channel began service in 1997 and is one of the most established channels of its kind. Viajar has employed as strategy of global production acquisition which has resulted in it receiving awards from the tourist sector.

In October 2011, Viajar was one of Digital+'s most watched channels with a 1.03% market share. In total, the Spanish television the channel was placed 31st, surpassing other important channels such as Cartoon Network, Eurosport or Sony TV.
