Sangsad Television [the new station of the Bangladesh Parliament] will formally go on-air on 25 January 2011, Speaker Abdul Hamid has informed the House. He said Sangsad TV would be run with the help of state-run television channel BTV and gradually it would become an independent TV channel. “We’ll take technical support from BTV. Later, we’ll make it ready as an independent TV,” the Speaker said.
He said they could make it operational by this year but 25 January been fixed for its formal operation as the first session of the current government started on that day in 2009. “We can’t support dependence on BTV always. So, for us and to cut dependence on BTV, Sangsad TV will be made an independent TV,” he said.
