CTC and Tvigle Media strike online deal with Disney
14 Dec 10 -

Russian broadcaster CTC Media and online portal Tvigle Media have struck a deal with Hollywood studio Disney that will see hit US comedy Cougar Town air online hours after its TV broadcast.

The two companies have struck the deal with Disney's international distribution arm, which marks the first time such a window has been introduced in Russia. The Courteney Cox-fronted comedy will initially launch on CTC Media's main channel later this month and within 24 hours it will air on Tvigle Media's site, which has around 2 million unique users.
"The market for legal online video in Russia is developing by leaps and bounds, sometimes even ahead of more developed European markets," said Yegor Yakovlev, chief executive of Tvigle Media.
