Canal+ SA has announced that it requested NYSE Euronext to suspend trading of its shares for Thursday 17 and Friday, February 18, 2011.

According to the statement, the suspension is “for purely technical reasons”. Canal+France filed documents containing financial information on the 2010 earnings of Canal+ SA with the French financial authority AMF on Wednesday, February 16.

The suspension of trade is pending the Board of Directors of Canal+ SA meeting on Friday February 18, 2011 to approve the accounts of the Company at December 31, 2010. The financial statement on the company’s annual results will be published that evening.

In a related development, the IPO registration document for French media group Lagardere’s stake in pay-TV group Canal Plus was expected to be released on the AMF regulator’s website on Thursday, a source close to the matter told Reuters. Lagardere plans to sell its 20% stake in Canal+ France.
