Libyan authorities accused of jamming RT in Arabic

Moscow, 28 February: The Arabic service of Russian [state] news channel Russia Today (RT), Rusiya Al-Yaum, which broadcasts an open signal via Nilesat (AB4) satellite, is being jammed in Libya, the channelís press service reported on Monday [28 February].

ďThere have been attempts to jam Rusiya Al-Yaum channelís open signal on Nilesat (AB4) satellite, the RRsat - Global Communications Network satellite television provider said. In company representativesí view, problems with the Russian channelís Arabic service signal are due to the Libyan authorities who are trying to stop citizens from accessing independent, objective information about developments in the country and the Middle East,Ē reads the television channel statement.
