Steve Kean - backed by Blackburn's owners.
    BLACKBURN OWNERS STAND BEHIND KEAN

Blackburn's owners have insisted there is "absolutely no truth" in rumours that manager Steve Kean is under pressure.
Speculation mounted about the Scot's position over the weekend after Rovers were beaten 3-2 by Fulham on Saturday, their fifth defeat in sixth matches.
The only Barclays Premier League point they have picked up during that time came from a goalless draw with Newcastle and the run has seen Blackburn drop to within two points of the relegation zone.
Chairman Anuradha Desai issued a statement on the club website on Monday afternoon, which read: "I do not know the source of these rumours but I would like to clarify that there is absolutely no truth in these reports.
"I would like to put on record that we have a contract with Steve Kean and he will continue in his present position with the club. There is no question of the manager being changed."
Indian company Venky's took over Rovers in November and showed they were not afraid to make big decisions when they sacked then manager Sam Allardyce the following month.
First-team coach Kean was appointed as his successor, initially until the end of the season, despite a lack of managerial experience.
Early results, which included a victory over Liverpool, were encouraging and in January Kean signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to keep him in the hotseat until the summer of 2013.
Venky's also dismissed rumours that Kean had been summoned to a meeting with Desai in London at the weekend, but co-owner Venkatesh Rao did admit to concern about recent results.
He told Sky Sports News: "We are very concerned but we are now trying to improve all aspects. Plans are looking very positive and I am sure in the future we will do something better."
Blackburn do not have a match this weekend and resume their Premier League campaign with a crunch game against fellow strugglers Blackpool a week on Saturday.

Van Gaal - will leave German giants in May.
VAN GAAL TO LEAVE BAYERN IN SUMMER

Bayern Munich ended 48 hours of fevered speculation by announcing coach Louis van Gaal would leave the club at the end of the season.
The Dutchman's position has been under scrutiny following the weekend loss at Hannover, which followed on closely from defeats in the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund and in the DFB-Pokal semi-finals to Schalke.
And although he will remain in the short-term, Van Gaal's current deal - due to end in the summer of 2012 - will be dissolved 12 months early with a Bayern press release, which was also signed by Van Gaal, citing a "difference in opinion about the strategic direction of the club".
Executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added at a press conference: "We are in a situation that concerns us all.
"We have suffered three defeats in a week which have jeopardised our targets for the season.
"We (the board) had a chat with Louis van Gaal this morning and have analysed our situation together with him.
"And despite the fact that in a few months we will go down separate paths we are all in agreement that we have the will to work together to achieve our minimum objectives."
That minimum objective is third place in the Bundesliga and a spot in the qualifying rounds for next season's Champions League.
Bayern are currently fifth, five points behind third-placed Hannover.
Rummenigge added: "Of course we know it's going to be very difficult but we will try anything.
"Whether we achieve it will be seen over the next nine Bundesliga games."
Bayern's remaining chance of silverware in 2010/11 - not including the pre-season SuperCup - is also the Champions League.
Mario Gomez's goal gave Van Gaal's men a 1-0 lead from the first leg of their last-16 tie against Inter Milan at the San Siro.
On current form, however, Bayern look unlikely to repeat their achievement of reaching the final of European football's biggest club competition, in which they lost 2-0 to Inter in Madrid last May.
They have appeared rudderless in recent weeks and the defeat to Dortmund effectively ended any lingering hopes they had of retaining their Bundesliga title while their loss to Schalke also saw them lose another crown they claimed last season.
Speculation in Germany suggested Van Gaal is only staying until the end of the season as the club could not find a suitable replacement.
The former Holland and Barcelona boss predicted as much following the weekend setback.
"The question is, who can replace Van Gaal?" he asked. "That is a difficult question."
It seems the long-term solution might be current Bayer Leverkusen boss Jupp Heynckes.
Heynckes has twice managed Bayern before, leading them to two Bundesliga crowns in his first spell in charge between 1987 and 1991.
The 65-year-old, who also won the the 1998 Champions League crown with Real Madrid, is known to be close to Bayern president Uli Hoeness and is likely to be available having so far failed to extend his Leverkusen deal, which is due to expire in the summer.
Bayer sporting director Rudi Voller is keen, however, to see Heynckes stay on at the BayArena.
He told Bild: "It is clear that such rumours would arise.
"But Jupp knows what he has at Bayer."

Pastore - youngster linked with United move.
MAN UNITED 'CLOSE IN ON PASTORE'

Manchester United are leading the race to sign highly-rated Palermo forward Javier Pastore, according to reports in Argentina.
The Premier League giants are thought to be close to agreeing a 40million (34m), four-year deal for the 21-year-old Argentina international, regarded as a superstar of the future following a raft of dazzling Serie A displays.
Pastore had been linked with a move to Barcelona after revealing his dream to play for the Spanish giants, while Barca ace and compatriot Lionel Messi was reportedly desperate for coach Pep Guardiola to bring him to Camp Nou.
But Argentine radio station Radio Sucesos reported on Thursday the Spanish giants have refused to meet Palermo's price tag.
And that has paved the way for the Red Devils to swoop, with Pastore's agent Marcello Simonean understood to be in England negotiating the details of a potential deal.
Pastore has fired in 10 Serie A goals this season for Palermo, who have refused to comment on speculation surrounding his future.
The attacking midfielder was also linked with a move to United's fierce rivals Manchester City in the January transfer window, with manager Roberto Mancini admitting his interest in the youngster.
Pastore, who arrived in Italy from native club Huracan in 2009, made his international debut the same year and went on to represent Argentina at last summer's World Cup finals.
He penned a new five-year deal at Palermo in January after claiming to spurn interest from both Barca and Real Madrid in favour of playing regular football at the Sicilian club.

Dave Penney - leaves Bristol Rovers.
    PENNEY DROPPED BY BRISTOL ROVERS

Bristol Rovers have sacked manager Dave Penney in the wake of Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Dagenham.
Penney, who took over from Paul Trollope on January 10, guided the Pirates to just two wins in 13 games and leaves with the club languishing 23rd in the League One table, five points from safety.
Captain Stuart Campbell will take control of first-team duties until the end of the season, starting with the trip to Tranmere on Tuesday.
A statement on the club's official website said: "We are all very disappointed and sad that the appointment of Dave Penney has not brought us the results and change of direction that we have been looking for.
"With 12 games left there is still a chance to get ourselves out of this situation and try and secure our League One status.
"We wish Stuart Campbell every success for the remainder of the season, and would call on all fans to back him, and the team, as he tries to rescue our season."

Jamie Ness - new Rangers contract.
    JAMIE NESS COMMITS TO RANGERS

Rangers have handed young midfielder Jamie Ness his second contract extension inside four months to tie him to the club until the summer of 2015.
The 20-year-old signed an improved deal in December, but has now extended his stay at Ibrox by another two years.
Manager Walter Smith told the club's official website: "Jamie has signed a new contract and we are very pleased about that.
"He has shown in the games that he has played for us this season that he has a very bright future so we are delighted to get him tied up on a new deal."
The midfielder's progress through the Murray Park academy was held up by injury, but he made his first-team debut as a teenager, off the bench in a 4-1 victory over Motherwell on Boxing Day.
He made a surprise first start in the new year derby against Celtic, performing well despite a 2-0 defeat, and maintained a regular place in the side until being hit by a groin injury last month.
Ness netted his first Rangers goal on his ninth appearance, a spectacular 25-yard strike into the top corner during a 2-2 Scottish Cup draw against Celtic.
Smith revealed the left-sided player could return to action against Kilmarnock in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on Sunday if his injury problem continued to clear up.
He added: "He has been hampered by a groin injury recently but that is clearing up and, everything going well, he might be ready to come back this weekend.
"He more than held his own when he came into the team and played exceptionally well for us so we were really disappointed when he dropped out through injury.
"He had not played a lot of matches in the previous two seasons because of injuries so after playing half a dozen matches or so for us we expected some sort of reaction and unfortunately we got it with the groin injury.
"So hopefully once he gets over that he can slot straight back in and if his form is anything like it was then it will be a huge benefit to Rangers.
"He is an out-and-out midfield player. His range of passing is good and he has also shown he has an eye for goal so we are delighted that he has extended his contract.
"It's always good when a young player comes in and enhances your group. He has done that and I'm sure he will do it again."

Garner - impressed during time at Scunthorpe.
    BARACLOUGH : GARNER DEAL UNLIKELY

Scunthorpe United manager Ian Baraclough admits he is unlikely to be able to secure the services of striker Joe Garner on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old striker has scored four times in eight appearances since joining from Nottingham Forest in January.
But Baraclough told BBC Radio Humberside: "The likelihood of him being here on a permanent deal is minimal.
"If there was any possibility at all of us being able to sign him I would not shy away from it."
"[A permanent move] is nothing that has been mentioned at this moment in time. Joe is a Nottingham Forest player and he's here on loan.
"I think there's a lot of clubs which having seen what Joe can do and how he's performed, would be interested."

Bannan - joined the promotion charge at Elland Road.
    BANNAN MAKES LEEDS SWITCH

Leeds have completed the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old Scotland international will go straight into Simon Grayson's squad for Tuesday night's league clash at Preston.
Grayson said: "Barry's a player we've been tracking for a while. Circumstances have now changed where Villa are in a position to let him join us and I'd like to thank them for agreeing to the move.
"He's had the opportunity to go to nearly every other team in the Championship so for him to come here makes it all the more pleasing.
"He's used to this division and he played a major part in Blackpool's run to get promoted last season, so he has experience and he fits the bill perfectly for us."
Bannan played alongside Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass for Scotland against Northern Ireland last month.

Toulalan - signed to 2015 with French giants.
    TOULALAN GOES ON WITH LYON

Lyon midfielder Jeremy Toulalan has signed a new contract which will keep him at the Ligue 1 club until 2015.
The France international, who joined the club from Nantes in 2006, has been short of his best since he took part in the France team's protests at the World Cup in South Africa but Lyon coach Claude Puel admitted he was delighted with Toulalan's decision to extend his contract.
Puel said: "Jeremy is a player with a very good mentality. He has made enormous progress technically.
"I hope that with the club he can fulfil his record in terms of titles. He returned to a very high level, which is obviously good for the team.
"Jeremy is someone loyal and a worker, which allows players to shine and express themselves on the offensive."
Toulalan added on the club website, www.olweb.fr: "I am very pleased to have extended my contract.
"I feel good in this city, it goes very well with the team. For me, I am evolving into the best team in France.
"I had a choice: it was either I prolonged my career and I was at OL, or I was leaving. I chose to stay in Lyon and finish my career at this club."
Toulalan, capped 36 teams by France, joins Remy Vercoutre, Jeremy Pied and Anthony Reveillere in extending his contract at Lyon.

Andros Townsend - Millwall loan move.
    LIONS POUNCE FOR TOWNSEND

Millwall have signed Tottenham winger Andros Townsend on loan until the end of the season.
The pacy 19-year-old, who has represented England at under-19 level, has made one first-team appearance for Spurs in the FA Cup win over Charlton in January, when he got on the scoresheet.
Townsend recently returned to White Hart Lane following a month on loan at Watford, where he was restricted to only three appearances.
The teenager was supposed to spend the season on loan at Ipswich after joining them in August but the deal was cut short when he fell out of favour at Portman Road.
The Londoner has spent the majority of the last three seasons out on loan, having spent time at MK Dons, Leyton Orient and Yeovil.
Townsend will go straight into the Lions' squad to take on Championship table-toppers QPR at the Den on Tuesday.
