Allociné to launch TV channel
11 Mar 11 -

French movie news and information website Allociné is to launch its own TV channel in June.

In a rare case of a web company branching out into traditional media, Allociné has decided to launch a channel to increase its advertising inventory and build stronger links with the French cinema industry. CEO Grégoire Lassalle said that while the internet was the best place to choose videos content, TV was the best place to watch it. The channel will initially be available via IPTV, and Allociné has reportedly signed agreements with Samsung and Philips to distribute it via their connected TV services. Content will include shows produced by Allociné itself, while other content, including films, will be made available through a partnership with authors’ organization SACD.

Allociné said it had total revenues of €24.9 million in 2010, up 11.6% year-on-year. The website will shortly launch its first mobile paid-for application – a quiz – on SFR’s network.
