Boost for UPC Romania

UPC Romania appears to have steadied the ship ahead of a possible sale by its owner Liberty Global to RCS&RDS.

Preliminary results published by Liberty Global and quoted by ZF show that the operator had revenues of 121.1 million in 2010, or almost 2% less than a year earlier, when they stood at 123.4 million.

At their peak, they amounted to 173.2 million in 2007, before falling to 144.8 million the following year.

Given that UPC Romania posted a 7% reduction in total subscribers last year and the general price war raging between the company, RCS&RDS and Romtelecom, the smaller reduction in revenues points to greater take-up of such additional services as HD and PVR.
