Motors TV, the channel devoted to motorsport, has extended its live coverage of the prestigious Campionato Italiano Velocita (CIV) Italian superbike championship.
The channel, available on Sky 413 and Virgin Media 545, will air live coverage of all eight rounds of the CIV, which is a 100-year-old championship that visits all of Italy's top circuits, including Monza, Misano, Vallelunga and Mugello.
As well as the Superbike category, the CIV also has classes for Moto 2, Supersport, Superstock 1000, Superstock 600 and 125cc machinery.
The event has traditionally acted as a breeding ground for emerging talent, such as Marco Melandri, Lucio Pedercini and multiple Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi.
Commentary for Motors TV's live CIV coverage will come from Jack Burnicle and former British and World Superbike racer James Haydon.
Frederic Viger, Motors TV's head of programming and acquisitions, said: "Motors TV is delighted to add coverage of the Campionato Italiano Velocita to an already-impressive roster of live championships in 2011.
"CIV has a proven track record for producing talented motorbike racers and the action is always spectacular. We are committed to bringing our viewers coverage of the best series from around the world and this year our varied coverage of motorsport's myriad disciplines is better than ever before."
Alfredo Mastropasqua, FMI marketing director, said: "We are proud of this fantastic agreement. Motors TV is the main channel for millions of European fans and for CIV this is one more step on the road to really becoming the 'International Tricolore'.
"The partnership also confirms the growing quality of our championship that will see strong Italian riders on the track as well as a lot of interesting foreign riders."
